Ditsa Roy is a fashion model based in Kolkata. Coming from Asansol, West Bengal, this young fashion model has never thought of making her way into the glamour world. She stumbled upon the opportunity when she visited a mall with her mother. There, in the mall, she saw a poster for a fashion show. Her mother supported her to participate, thus embarking her on a new journey.
“I participated in a ramp show of Mr. and Miss Asansol. My mother motivated me and I agreed to participate. The whole journey was so exciting. I get to groomed and it was the first time that I was confident about myself. After one month, the pageant happened and I got the title of Miss Asansol”.
It is has been one and a half years, Ditsa shifted to Kolkata for her profession and graduation. Currently, she is doing a diploma course from Frankfinn and pursuing her graduation in English Honours from The Indira Gandhi National Open University. Her mother was supportive too when she decided to take up modeling professionally. But Ditsa’s father was quite skeptical about her career.
“My dad was not cooperative at that time and he was more into theatres and dramas. It has been few months and now he is happy seeing my featured photos and hoardings. My mom is my backbone, she is always there”.
Talking more about her journey, Ditsa did not have much work after winning Miss Asansol. But after some time she got a call for an audition for a brand, Tress Belle, in December 2019. She got selected as their house model. The Pandemic affected her career and was out of projects for some months. Ditsa went back to Asansol and was mentally down. But slowly and gradually, things got better and she started working again.
After lockdown, Ditsa got several projects. She worked for FDCI with the designer Rimi Nayak. She has done a television commercial for Fair and Glow as well. Ditsa has featured in Elle India, Vogue, Missmalini, and Indulge newspaper. Moreover, she did hoarding shoots for Rangoli and Image Eyewear. Adding further on this, Ditsa revealed,
I will keep on working and want to share frame with Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. I definitely want to do some cover shoots for international magazines. Also, I want to walk the ramp in Milan, Paris, and NewYork fashion week”.
Apart from modeling, Ditsa loves music and is also into dancing. She got a national scholarship in Kathak when she was in class 7. She is an ambivert, animal lover and has a dog and a cat. Ditsa loves to spend her leisure time with her family, friends and enjoys watching shows on Netflix. When asked about her favorite brands and designers she would like to work with, Ditsa shared,
“It is always going to be Marc Jacobs. I love the designs, the dresses as they connect with my personality. It is more towards casual side yet classy. Apart from that I would like to work with Calvin Klein and Alexander Mcqueen. Also I am hoping to work with Tarun Tahiliani, Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, and Masaba Gupta”.
The journey was not as smooth as it seems. Ditsa too had to face a lot of criticisms. From being demotivated to being body-shamed, Ditsa has faced it all. It was not easy for her as she was new in the industry and was not habitual to how the industry works. Her mother has been her biggest supporter and was always there to handle her in all these situations.
“My mother has always been there to handle me. Besides I feel I am the most strongest girl because from childhood, I have faced a lot of things that made me strong. When it started happening, initially it was hurting a lot but then I started working on myself. I started going to the gym and working out on a daily basis. But most importantly, I started ignoring”.

Ditsa is a freelance fashion model. She has an interest in commercial and runway modeling. Ditsa has traveled to Delhi and Bangalore for shoots. Moreover, her favorite shoots to date are with FDCI and her first shoot with Tress Belle from where her journey started. According to Ditsa, Fashion is something that makes a person comfortable. She is more inclined towards casuals and finds them cool and attractive. In addition to it, Ditsa is also into ethnic-like sarees. Elaborating more on fashion, Ditsa says,
Fashion represents what one exactly is. By personality, gesture, body language with updated trends and styles. Fashion says everything about that person”.
Currently, Ditsa is not associated with any social cause but wants to be a part of it. She wants to join an NGO which looks after orphanages and old age homes. A few months back, Ditsa visited an orphanage home with her friend and did whatever she could. Ditsa strongly believes in herself and has a strong mindset. Talking more on this, she says
I feel that I have that feature, that confident, that power to achieve my goals. I am physically fit for this. Most importantly, I am so dedicated towards it. Modeling is the ultimate thing that I want to do and is my ultimate love. Moreover, my mother is by my side so I am completely fit and fine”.
Ditsa believes if there is work, there are rejections too. Rejections have helped her to get a better opportunity. She tries her best to find out where she lacks and works to improve it. She has emerged as out more confident person both personally and professionally. Her modeling journey has been amazing. However, sometimes it becomes tough to handle and sometimes it is easy for her. Altogether, it has been an incredible journey for Ditsa.
