“Whatever is going inside you, should not be on your face”- Kunal Jalan

Kunal Jalan started modeling two years ago just to try it as an interest. Initially, he did two pageant shows in his town itself in which he got to learn and experience how the modeling industry work and then he tried for the bigger pageants. Kunal went to Mr and Mrs price east India which was also a turning point for him as he was able to win 2 titles there. Still somewhere he felt that something is missing, so he did a fashion runway in between which boosted his and he got to know his real road. He felt that this is what he wanted so he started working for it. Currently, he is doing photoshoots, grooming himself, gaining experience, and slowly stepping into the fashion industry.

His family was never in denial for anything. His mother is his biggest support system. She understands his work and motivates him so she has been always there for him.

If not modeling then surely I would have been into business,  because being a Hindu Marwari I beleive somewhere it is in my blood. Modeling is somehow limited to time and age. So I always want to have back support never the less.

Besides modeling Kunal loves writing, making crafts, singing, gyming, and also doing Zumba. These are something that is there on his bucket list and he always likes to practice them in his free time.

I have not really faced criticism but people have said things about me seeing my pictures of a conceptual and artistic shoot.
Fashion and art today are going beyond and it had no rules so when people try something new we should respect it.
We should never judge anyone by a single picture which is always being a problem for many people. Art and artists all are needed to be respected.

Kunal always believes failure is just a part of life and we should never stop or look back for it. Moving forward with new experiences that we have learned is very important, he thinks that there is always a lesson in every rejection. So we need to be positive, confident and look at things as a challenge to fulfill.

Getting financial stability in a modeling career is not easy anyway. I think one can get financial stability through their talent and hard work. This field pays to those who are passionate and carry the element to be in it. Nowadays there is scope for everyone regardless of their complexion or body type which is a very good thing. Earning through modeling is very important after a certain time because you need it. The model becomes a model by experience and hard work that’s what should be paid.

Sometimes there is a lot of pressure during shoots because of the outcomes needed. But Kunal feels that we all are humans and we all get nervous somewhere but to control and overcome our fears is a challenge and we should accept this with full confidence.  He has written this in his notes “whatever going inside you should not be on your face” to keep himself motivated. And This is what a model Requires.

The toughest part of being a fashion model is to be perfect in every imperfections. Also to showcase an art or to carry something new becomes difficult for a fashion model because whatever we wear today becomes tommrow for the world outside.

Kunal believes that nowadays social media is everything. Whatever is going on, whatever is coming is surrounded by social media. There are a lot of people who have started modeling through social media and now have been successfully working. And this inspires those who also wanted to start modeling. It has become easy to showcase your talent and skills through social media.
In the future, Kunal really wants to do bigger runways and work for big designers and commercials.

The Challenge I’ve faced till now is to carry myself forward. Because there are many out there who try to break your confidence, and not everyone you’ll meet in the industry will be good to you. So you need to think about yourself first and work with all your heart.

According to Kunal fashion keeps on changing every day. But now fashion is more tilted towards the old era. Like baggy clothes are coming up inspired from some retro fashion. And fashion is becoming boundless and genderless. As far as high fashion is concerned it is going beyond and futuristic.

Kunal’s biggest strength and support system is his mother and his family. And his weakness according to him is that he is not financially independent. That is very difficult for him in this industry.

Modelling has changed my life in a lot of ways. I have become more confident and my personality has improved as well. I have become more positive and modeling has become an important part of my life to fulfill my dreams.
