Far away from the modeling industry, model Sher Singh Rathore from a small village near Nagaur, Rajasthan proved that nothing is impossible if you are focused and stick to your goals. He has been working in this industry for the past four years.
Not know this industry, Sher Singh Rathore faced many challenges as his father passed away when he was very young. Along with his elder brother, he was initially working at weddings, helping people with costumes and turbans.
“As I was from a very small village, I did not know if things like modeling even exist. I did my schooling but never went to college as my father died when I was young. All the responsibilities were on my and my elder brother’s shoulders. I used to go to weddings to help people with their costumes and turban. Time was not supportive for me then.”

He started his modeling career at the age of 18. Worked in Jaipur for two years and worked in Delhi too. He derives his motivation from the Rajasthan-based model Akshay Rathore.
“My struggling period starts at the age of 18. I got the motivation from Akshay, who is from Rajasthan only. I used to think that there is no modeling and no such things out of Jaipur. Later, I realized that it is nothing like that when I started getting work from different cities.”
He supported himself financially as well. After working at weddings, he later opened his shop of clothing and turban.
“I opened my shop. Apart from that, I used to do some retail jobs too. And, if talk about family support, my mother does not know this industry and no one stopped me from pursuing modeling.”
He got his initial training. He first got his work in e-commerce with the brand MENSXP. Sher Singh has also worked with Amazon Fashion India as well.

Along with an embellished jury of Jamal Shaikh, Manish Malhotra, Payal Pratap, Nikhil Rishi Mehra, and Suket Dhir.
“Out of Rajasthan, this was my first time, in Delhi. Though, I was selected for the ramp show by FDCI twice, it was canceled due to a pandemic. The whole camp was a learning experience.”

Apart from that he also worked with Woodland and many other designers like Rohit Kamra from Jaipur and Suket Dhir. When asked about rejections in this industry in the initial stage, he said,
“I used to get calls for many shows and shoots for brands but they used to say, ‘thank you for coming’. It used to be so disheartening that I started believing that wherever I go, I will get to hear this only. I worked so hard upon myself specifically on my hairstyle and physique”

In this industry, Sher Singh Rathore had to face the casting couch.
“From the very beginning, you are bound to go through this and it depends upon person to person, how you deal at that moment. I rejected my shoots many times due to this behavior. One should not forget the true self while chasing your goals. Things will be slow but it will be worth getting it.”
Sher Singh also expressed his interest in working with the brands like Zara, Levi’s, and H&M. Also eminent designers like Manish Malhotra and Amit Aggarwal.
While talking about fitness and health, Sher Singh Rathore is much keen on gymming and running. He also competed at the state level in running. He always believes in a good diet and fruits to keep up with a hectic schedule when one can not go to the gym or work out.
The message he conveyed is,
“No one should hamper their personal life and studies, like I did at my early age. I used to skip my classes and many times exams too. Education is very important. Modeling is a passion to follow but should not be the priority when it comes to education and other important work.”
Overcoming each hurdle of life every day, Sher Singh Rathore is getting the victory he deserves, in the field of fashion.
