Farhan Akhtar has landed into controversy once again. In the past, Farhan Akhtar’s comment on the Citizenship Amendment Act triggered citizens of India and they asked to boycott the movie “Toofan”. Amid a lot of buzzes once again #boycottToofan has been trending on Twitter since Saturday. This time it is because the movie shows interfaith love relations between Farhan and the female lead of the movie Mrunal Thakur. Farhan Akhtar will portray the role of Aziz Ali who is a boxer and Mrunal Thakur plays the role of Dr. Pooja Shah. People called the movie against their culture. While another section of Twitter users have been countering this argument and the trend also led to a few jokes.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra has directed the movie and Excel Entertainment, ROMP Pictures have produced it. The film revolves around the journey of Aziz Ali (Farhan) from being a boxing champion to a gangster in Dongri. The film also stars Paresh Rawal as Aziz Ali’s coach in the film, alongside Vijay Raaz and Darshan Kumar in prominent roles. The movie will start streaming on Amazon Prime from July 16.
