Actress Akriti Singh’s directorial debut “Toofan Mail” wins Best Film Award (Youth Curated Choice) at UK Asian Film Fest. The film is based on a true incident from the 1970s. The story is about a woman who arrives at the Delhi railway station and claimed that she is Awadh’s queen. And, sought to meet Prime Minister Indra Gandhi. However, the film features actors Surya Rao and Arshad Mumtaz.
Talking about the film Akriti said, “The jury consisted of people from 18 to 25 years. All these young people watched the film and decided that they connect with Toofan Mail the best”. Further added that the film is the result of team efforts and the making of the film was a challenging journey. However, she was sure about the impact it would create on people’s minds. She quotes, “the film is based in the 70s and the fact that it connected with the youngsters of today makes me feel accomplished as a writer and director”
