Ramayan actor Chandrashekhar passed away at 98 on Wednesday, June 16. He was well-known for his performance in the TV show ‘Ramayan’ for the role of Mahamantri. The show was directed by Ramanand Sagar and aired between 1997 to 1998 on DD National. The actor made his debut in V Shantaram’s film ‘Surang’ in 1954. He passed away with age-related illness at the age of 98. The actor’s son and producer, Ashok Shekhar told PTI that he breathed his last at 7 am at his Mumbai residence. Ashok Shekhar also said, “He passed away in his sleep in the presence of family… the way he wanted. He had no health issues, it was just his age. He lived a good life,”. The veteran actor Chandrashekhar had begun his career as a junior artist in the industry before his debut film. Indian actor Arun Govil mourned his death on Twitter.

He also made his production debut with the 1964 film ‘Cha Cha Cha’, starring actress Helen. The actor has also assisted filmmaker Gulzar on many of his projects like Parichay, Koshish, and Achanak. Chandrashekhar has done more than 250 movies. His legacy lives on forever!
