Actress Yuvika Chaudhary got trolled on social media and landed in legal trouble for using a casteist slur in one of her YouTube vlogs. She said she looks like “bhangi” whenever she tries to vlog. However, she issued an apology stating that she did not even know the meaning of the word she used. Also said people have perceived in a wrong sense. An FIR is lodged against her.

Days after the incident during a media interaction Prince Narula has reacted to the controversy. While talking to reporters, the actor said they do not believe in any caste system. And his wife Yuvika Chaudhary does not even know the meaning of that word. He said people make a big issue out of a small thing these days. Further, he gave the example of their inter-caste marriage. He said “he is Punjabi and Yuvika is Jat by caste and they would not have married if they believed in caste”.
Earlier, Actress Munmun Dutta also used a casteist slur. She said, ” I am coming on YouTube, and I want to look good do not want to look like a bhangi”. However, later she also apologized by saying she has utmost respect towards people regardless of their caste, gender, and creed. An FIR lodged against Dutta in the Hansi city police station in the Hisar district.
BHANGI is an Indian caste. They were historically restricted to 3 occupations: cleaning latrines, sweeping, and scavenging. Hence treated as untouchables.
