Renowned filmmaker Buddhadeb Dasgupta passed away at the age of 77, on Thursday morning at his Kolkata residence. He was suffering from kidney-related issues and geriatric problems.
Buddhadeb Dasgupta was a remarkable filmmaker and poet. His vision and storytelling were beyond his time and appreciated by generations of all time. Further, his family shares that he was sick for more than a year. He had been undergoing dialysis treatment. He was supposed to have one, on Thursday as well. The whole industry is taken aback and upset by the news. The last film directed by him was ‘Uttara’. Some of his famous films are ‘Tahader Kotha’, ‘Charachar’, ‘Lal Darja’, ‘Swapner Din’, and ‘Anwar Ka Ajab Kissa’. Moreover, his film ‘Kaalpurush’ had won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in 2006.
Many fans celebrities mourned his demise. Director Goutam Ghosh wrote, “I still can’t believe that he is no more. There are so many beautiful memories with him. I lost a friend.”. Prosenjit Chatterjee and Aneek Dutta also expressed their grief.
