Supermodel Kanishtha Dhankar is one of the most recognizable faces in the fashion industry. She had won Femina Miss India in 2011. She also represented India at Miss World 2011 where she placed in the top 30.
Originally from Haryana, she was born and brought up in Mumbai, India. Her father was a commodore in the Indian Navy. She began her modeling career during her university days where she was scouted by modeling agents. Since then, she has been on a roll gracing the covers of Elle, Grazia, Marie Claire, and Cosmopolitan. She has also done campaigns for designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Manish Malhotra, Dorothee Sausset, Seema Gujral, Amita Aggarwal, and Ridhi Mehra. To top it all, she also worked with Estee Lauder and Sabyasachi. The model has walked at Lakme Fashion Week and Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, as well as at Fashion Week in New York.
She lives a yogi lifestyle and is also an advocate for human rights and sustainability. She has worked on a recycling project with Tetra Pak India educating Indian consumers about the importance of recycling. Talking to Make It Last, she said, ‘‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’ is a phrase I seem to have come upon much later in life. But having lived that principle from a young age I can say that it truly resonates with me. A clean surrounding leads to a clean mind and thus a diamond heart”.
