“Life is full of hurdles, you have to face them one at a time with grace and dignity”, Krish Kapoor

by Sharbani Ghosh / Tuesday, 10 August 2021 / Published in Interviews

Sometimes, unpredictable things in our life are the turning points towards success. That is the story of our model from Mumbai, Krish Kapoor’s journey.

“At first, I never thought that I would become a model. I always used to look at the industry with awe and loved what professionals did. I never knew what went behind creating such impactful campaigns and effective images.”

One night it suddenly struck him. Unlike any other day of his life, he got the motivation to try out his luck in this industry.

“I was having dinner one night with some friends, two of them were stylists and one was a photographer. They suggested that I should send my pictures to modeling agencies and see what comes out of it. I thought they were joking but after I sent my pictures, everything fell into place.”

However, being in this industry has a great impact on Krish’s life.

“Modeling has opened doors and windows of knowledge and opportunities for me. It has made me more independent and responsible for my activities and work. Moreover, it has given me a chance to meet many accomplished and creative minds which I may not have been able to work with and interact otherwise. I have become more punctual, determined, and disciplined than ever!”

To Krish, the good and bad are the same. He says they have just taught them more.

“Good and bad are part and parcel of any industry. If you don’t experience the bad, you will never be able to appreciate the good. I have had great experiences and opportunities to work and interact with leading designers, photographers, make-up artists, and stylists. These professionals have embodied fashion and with every interaction, you only grow!”

Krish is always empowered with a positive aura even when it comes to rejection as a part of life. He says they are just about the task at hand and not about personal capabilities.

“A wise person told me, life is full of hurdles, you have to face them one at a time with grace and dignity. Every rejection is a learning lesson. However, that does not mean you are not good enough. In the modeling industry, it only means that your look is not currently suitable for that particular job. Maybe a few months down the line, your look will be perfect for it. So rejection is not a reflection on your performance, it is merely an unmatched perception.”

Keeping up with this positive attitude, he also shared about his hobbies and likings.

“It is extremely necessary to pursue interests and hobbies outside of modeling. I love playing badminton and swimming, I find that very relaxing and it is a good way to remain fit! Recently, I discovered the art of making candles and I have been hooked ever since! So these days, I spend my free time creating formulations for candles and home décor.”

He also shared his experiences, working with the FDCI camp. He was among the top 3.

“My experience has been fabulous. It has unraveled countless insights into the fashion industry in India. I was lucky to be trained by the supermodel and pantheress of the runway, Lakshmi Rana at the Wilderbee Talent Camp in association with FDCI. Moreover, to be interacting with profound individuals like Mr. Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, Raksha Singh (Image Consultant), Anu Kaushik (Makeup Artist), Supermodels like Rachel Bayros, Vaibhav Anand, Zander Lama and more, is nothing but an honor.

At the Wilderbee Talent Camp, I was lucky enough to be placed as one of the top 3 performers. Working with leading brands and fashion houses has been amazing. The level of professionalism is unmatched!”

Along with this, Krish Kapoor is also indulging with One Management in New York apart from INEGA. Moreover, he also worked with renowned companies like Vigour Magazine, Vogue India, Vogue Italia, and other fashion publications.

“The Vogue Italia project was a fashion film. Working with international creatives from the heart of fashion – Milan showcased and put light upon new avenues of fashion. Right from fittings to the actual shoot, the experience is something I cannot forget. Being featured in Vogue India, Vogue Italia and other fashion publications have been very motivating for me.”

Though modeling is a passion, if not modeling Krish was sure about his career anyway.

“If not modeling, I would prefer a career that is just as exhilarating as this one. Something that keeps me busy and helps me grow. I only see that in Management Consultancy. So if not modeling, it will be Management Consultancy.”

He says, financial stability is necessary and we should always make our plans accordingly.

“Whether modeling or not, it is always nice to have multiple sources of income. As a model, it is very important to keep a tally of the jobs you have done and payments that are still to come in. My agents often help me keep this tally and it always remains seamless this way.”

Usually, models have very hectic schedules. To cope up with that Krish keeps his routine pre-planned and sorted.

“As a model, some days can get very hectic. It is very important to follow a schedule that allows you to accommodate all your tasks. Oftentimes, work can go on till the wee hours of the morning but like any other job, you have to stay committed and give each task your best. I prefer pre-planning my day in advance where I list down all I am going to accomplish in the day with some free time to just be with myself and unwind.”

However, to keep himself fit and focused, he follows a simple routine.

“A hot cup of hibiscus tea and a good run is what helps me stay fit and focused.”

In the end, he said,

“The only piece of advice I would like to give is DO NOT GIVE UP. The harder you try, the luckier you get. The industry is at the helm of change. I strongly believe that the wave of inclusivity is going to pave many opportunities for new talent in India and across the world.”
