by Sharbani Ghosh / Sunday, 29 August 2021 / Published in Interviews

Learning new things every day is a never-ending process. Each day teaches us different things. Our actor and model Kuldeep Soni also keeps up with this agenda and is scaling the route towards his dreams day by day.

Kuldeep Soni from Udaipur, Rajasthan was always fond of the entertainment domain since childhood. He used to participate in almost every cultural program. He used to love being on stage.

“From school time, I was part of most stage acts and plays. One can say that I used to be on stage all the time.”

Along with that, Kuldeep has always been a sporty person. He used to keep himself into sports as well. But there was a time when he was not sure whether he can become an actor or not.

“Everything was well, though, I was not sure whether I can act or not.”

While he was pursuing his further studies in the USA, he started looking for acting schools, as he was determined to be in one, along with pursuing a part-time job. But his love and determination of becoming an actor grew day by day. His life changed for the better when he got into one of the acting schools in the US.

At the time of the interview before selection for the acting school, he was asked that why he wants to be an actor. He answered,

“I just want to be an actor. I don’t know whether I can act or not. It is you guys who are going to tell that whether I can become or not.”

After his selection for the acting course, he learned loads of things in aspects of acting including the etiquettes of being punctual and focused.

“They used to be so much strict about punctuality. Also they taught me how dedication is important in becoming an actor. I got to know myself after getting into the acting school. I came to know I want to be here and who I am.”

Kuldeep loves being on stage and face camera. Watching movies and seeing different characters give him the energy to try out different characters’ roles as well.

“I love doing plays on stage and acting in front of the camera. Though facing the camera is quite different, I love it. I am a different me then.”

His family has been always supportive irrespective of not knowing the acting and modeling industry and also about a chef. He is the youngest in his family after his four sisters. They also supported him throughout his whole journey of becoming a chef and following his passion of becoming an actor and model.

From a very young age, Kuldeep started earning a further strong financial base. He was supporting himself financially from the very beginning. After completing one year in acting school in the USA, he came to India at the end of 2018 and shifted to Mumbai. Mumbai as everyone knows is the hub for acting and modeling.

After coming back to India, he got his first project as a model for the clothing brand Rare Rabbit.

“I was not in my good body shape at that time. The shoot was in a week. I was working out for 5 hours a day to get back into shape. And in one week I was back on track.”

He also worked for a TVC for Shoppers Stop, shoots for clothing brands like Veirdo, His Highness, and many more. He also worked with renowned photographer Paul David Martin.

As soon as he came to Mumbai he joined the theatre group named The Actor’s Group by Saurabh Sachdeva. Though he was into both acting and modeling, he preferably wanted to be in acting.

“The reason I joined this theatre is that I was getting the same vibe as the acting school in the USA. Everybody was so dedicated and punctual. It was fun. I was said to be good for comedy act back in the US.”

For Kuldeep, to become an actor, one has to be comfortable in front of the public with every look. He even tried this by traveling in a bus with a hippie look. The survey was to know how people react and how comfortable he was. Also, he takes inspiration from animals when it comes to a certain character. He also gets inspiration from actors who play an intense role in films.

In the year 2020, as the pandemic came, like others it also affected Kuldeep’s career which was paving its way smoothly. He had to cancel many shoots and projects. Though he utilized that time on developing and brushing his skills.

“I believe an actor should always know and be good in multiple things. I love to play different sports. Also, do gym and I am very much into fitness. Whether it’s anger or I am upset, my only way to get out of it is in the gym and working out. It is the best way for me.”

Through sketching, he loves to describe his feelings and emotions. He is also a nature and animal lover and always energetic to learn new things.

“Learning has no age and time. Anyone can learn anything if they want to.”

As an actor and model, also multitalented in many fields, Kuldeep Soni is unstoppable.
