Ditsa Roy is a fashion model based in Kolkata. Coming from Asansol, West Bengal, this young fashion model has never thought of making her way into the glamour world. She stumbled upon the opportunity when she visited a mall with her mother. There, in the mall, she saw a poster for a fashion show. Her mother supported her to participate, thus embarking her on a new journey.

“I participated in a ramp show of Mr. and Miss Asansol. My mother motivated me and I agreed to participate. The whole journey was so exciting. I get to groomed and it was the first time that I was confident about myself. After one month, the pageant happened and I got the title of Miss Asansol”.

It is has been one and a half years, Ditsa shifted to Kolkata for her profession and graduation. Currently, she is doing a diploma course from Frankfinn and pursuing her graduation in English Honours from The Indira Gandhi National Open University. Her mother was supportive too when she decided to take up modeling professionally. But Ditsa’s father was quite skeptical about her career.

“My dad was not cooperative at that time and he was more into theatres and dramas. It has been few months and now he is happy seeing my featured photos and hoardings. My mom is my backbone, she is always there”.

Talking more about her journey, Ditsa did not have much work after winning Miss Asansol. But after some time she got a call for an audition for a brand, Tress Belle, in December 2019. She got selected as their house model. The Pandemic affected her career and was out of projects for some months. Ditsa went back to Asansol and was mentally down. But slowly and gradually, things got better and she started working again.

After lockdown, Ditsa got several projects. She worked for FDCI with the designer Rimi Nayak. She has done a television commercial for Fair and Glow as well. Ditsa has featured in Elle India, Vogue, Missmalini, and Indulge newspaper. Moreover, she did hoarding shoots for Rangoli and Image Eyewear. Adding further on this, Ditsa revealed,

I will keep on working and want to share frame with Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. I definitely want to do some cover shoots for international magazines. Also, I want to walk the ramp in Milan, Paris, and NewYork fashion week”.

Ditsa loves to spend her leisure time with her family, friends and enjoys watching shows on Netflix. When asked about her favorite brands and designers she would like to work with, Ditsa shared,

“It is always going to be Marc Jacobs. I love the designs, the dresses as they connect with my personality. It is more towards casual side yet classy. Apart from that I would like to work with Calvin Klein and Alexander Mcqueen. Also I am hoping to work with Tarun Tahiliani, Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, and Masaba Gupta”.

The journey was not as smooth as it seems. Ditsa too had to face a lot of criticisms. From being demotivated to being body-shamed, Ditsa has faced it all. It was not easy for her as she was new in the industry and was not habitual to how the industry works. Her mother has been her biggest supporter and was always there to handle her in all these situations.

“My mother has always been there to handle me. Besides I feel I am the most strongest girl because from childhood, I have faced a lot of things that made me strong. When it started happening, initially it was hurting a lot but then I started working on myself. I started going to the gym and working out on a daily basis. But most importantly, I started ignoring”.
