Dipti Sharma is a 25-year-old model from Rudrapur, Uttrakhand, India. She has broken several barriers quite early in her career. She was the first-ever model in India to walk for Balenciaga’s spring 2018 show. In the year 2015, she won a modeling contest at an age of 20 but was not sure if an agency would sign her. Therefore, she asked her parents for three months to get signed in an agency. She was under societal pressure before starting her career in modeling. But, when people started to know her work she received a lot of appreciation from aspiring Indian creatives. Then she got the courage to convince her parents. In the year 2017, Balenciaga sent her the offer for their ad campaign.
In the year 2019, she collaborated with stylist Natasha Royt and photographer Jason Kibbler and shot “Vogue’s February 2019 Issue”. However, in that photoshoot, she wanted to reflect that India has so much to offer in the terms of spirituality and fashion.
Dipti wants to represent India’s culture, through her modeling career. With this, she wants to prove that India has a lot to offer and embodies talents who just need the right opportunity to shine. Dipti walked in Dolce and Gabbana’s Alta Moda Balenciaga spring show in a saree to represent India. Her Indian outfit was a clear depiction of how Indian fashion is inspiring international designers.
