You need to be comfortable in your own skin and always enjoy your work
As a society, we are conditioned to think that clear skin with good texture is the only way to look beautiful. That is why Madhusmita had a lot of insecurity during her teenage because of her pimples. She was also mocked by some people for her skin texture. But later with maturity, Madhushmita realizes that every skin type is beautiful and pimples and marks on the face are completely normal. So she did not care much about what society had to say later in her life.
Madhusmita is a Law student at KIIT University, Bhubaneswar who is in her 5th year currently. Growing up with insecurity about her skin texture she is now influencing people about skincare. She is a content creator and a make-up artist. Her content is mostly about skincare and make-up.
I was the first person in my class who got acne, which made me feel very conscious about myself. I thought maybe I have some problem with my skin that is why I am the first one. Because back then no one was there to make me understand that acnes are completely normal. So I started using a lot of home remedies and went to different dermatologists to treat my skin. So from that time itself I am into skincare.
Being a content creator is her side hustle, it is something she loves doing. In the future, she will be a Lawyer and simultaneously a content creator as well.
Her parents are very supportive. Because Madhusmita smartly divides her time for everything like her studies as well as for content creation. So, as long as her studies are not hampered, her parents do not have any problem with her work.
I love creative make-up looks. So I really like the looks at Met Gala and Cannes shows. But my recent favorite is that of Kylie Jenner’s 24k gold make-up look. So that look is something I am obsessing over currently.
Since she is a law student, apart from content creation she loves researching various social issues and writing about them. She likes writing research papers as that brings her a great deal of happiness.
She mostly has never faced criticism but has faced some hate comments. As she had acne on her face so some people would come to her and taunt her about that. Earlier it used to demotivate her but now she does not really care about it because she believes that those people are not really significant in her life. If 95 percent like her work and just 5 percent of people just come to pull her down. So that should not really affect her because maximum people already love her for her work.
There are some particular agencies that I like working with. I do not have any permanent contract with any agency neither I am looking for it. So I just get offers from agencies for just a particular campaign. I love working for agencies like One Impression, OPA Review, etc.
According to Madhusmita, the most important quality in a make-up artist is being relevant. Being relevant and relatable is extremely important for a content creator. If your audience does not relate to you then there is no point. Reach and engagement decreases if they do not find relatable content. So, it is necessary for your audience to resonate, and also it is important to be original. Being consistent is also another factor that is a needful quality in a content creator. The biggest challenge in content creation according to Madhusmita is engagement.

A piece of beauty advice that I would like to give is to wear sunscreen every day. UV rays are very harmful to our skin, it leads to pigmentation, acne, etc. And due to increasing global warming nowadays our skin is more vulnerable to getting affected. So sunscreen provides a protective layer which is very helpful. I always suggest everyone this, as it is extremely important. Every dermatologist I visited, the most common advice they give is to use sunscreens.
She makes very informative content that will be beneficial for her audience. That is something that makes her different from other creators. She does not run behind trends. She believes that will make your content less informative as you would not get the required time to think. Madhusmita does not believe in fast fashion or fast beauty trends, she does everything at her own pace. She prefers mostly doing IGTV videos where she exhibits as well as reviews all the products. Many people find those videos effective and use the recommended product by Madhusmita which makes her really happy.
I never pressurize myself to make videos. I believe that whenever I make content I should enjoy the process and that would not happen if I am not in a good mood. So it is better if I take a break and then get back to my game. That will rather give me more fruitful results than running behind doing content every day when I am not mentally present. You need to have a good mental stability to give justice to your work. So if I feel grumpy, stressed, or a little low, I just do not do anything and take time for myself to just rest. As content creation is a fun process, so I do it only when I am in the mood to enjoy it.
Madhusmita suggested that women should avoid using varieties of products. They should also not always trust hyped/trendy beauty products which gets viral on internet. One first needs to understand their skin before buying products. People should always listen to their skin and what it exactly demands rather than using any product without any prior research about it.
As a content creator, my journey has been a mixture of ups and downs. But I am very grateful to my audience who always hype me up and give me a lot of energy. When someone takes my recommendation it gives me a great amount of joy. I totally love all my loyal audience who are extremely supportive and never leaves a chance to motivate me. Social media is helping content creators like us a lot. It is giving us the opportunity and recognition that we deserve.
She is very vocal about LGBTQIA+ rights. She also wants to work in the future for body positivity, body hair, etc. where people should learn to love as well as be comfortable in their own skin.
Content creation and makeup have made her a stronger and better person. Earlier she used to be very shy but now she is extremely confident to put forward her opinion. Content creation just brings a lot of happiness and positivity to her.
