Meet the young and talented model Kavita Mishra who is making her name in the industry with her consistency. She works hard each day to fulfill her goals. Kavita graduated from Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics in business administration. Currently, she is working as a content writer. Kavita’s journey is motivational yet inspiring. So, let us dive into knowing more about Kavita’s modeling career so far.
Kavita Mishra started her modeling career by participating in a pageant. In the year 2019, she participated in Miss Navi Mumbai and ended up winning it. She was more interested in pageants and never thought of getting into modeling.
“As I was in pageantry so there were like some photographers who were approaching me. So, I started following these modeling agencies. I had one agency in which I was really interested but did not approach them yet. But, I think because of me following them, they ended up seeing my profile and they contacted me. That is how it started intially.”

Kavita during her initial days of the pageant was trained by model and Femina Miss India Gujrat 2017 winner Amardeep Kaur Syan. She later associated herself with an agency named Purple Thoughts India. The agency gave her a lot of opportunities in her initial day in modeling.
Talking about how the pandemic treated her, Kavita Mishra told that it was tough as a lot of her projects were postponed or canceled. So, just because of COVID-19, she lost a lot of opportunities. She feels the entertainment industry suffered quite a bit.
When asked about dealing with criticism, Kavita mentioned how people used to criticise her for her body weight. Also, it is very normal in the industry which is not a good thing. She was constantly reminded about her weight.
“I was always a little over weight from the start and for pageant I lost a lot of weight. But still I was not like all other models. People in the industry very casually point it out about your weight. They tell you to just lose a couple of inches more. Though, I understand agents telling you because they want you get more work. And,, I feel somewhere your body type, dictates the work you get. It is the truth. It is becoming a lot more inclusive. But I think this is always going to be there. How fit you look is always going to be a factor in how much work you get.”
Kavita Mishra handled all the criticism she received with a lot of maturity. As women, everyone receives criticism about they look. So, she became used to it. Also, thought to herself that this criticism is not new to her, she has received it all her life.
“Eventually, when you hear it over and over again you become mentally prepared. Of course it was hard sometime, but again one thing I found very interesting was I got a lot of support from my co-models.”
Kavita has worked with a lot of well-known brands like Orra Jewellery, Sugar cosmetics, Zest Melange, Shopper Stop, etc. She has featured in magazines like Mind Magazine and Picton Magazine. Sharing her experience of working with them, Kavita says,
“One thing I really like is that on different jobs, you work with set of really skilled people. There are so many people you come in contact with from whom you learn a lot. I think that was really interesting to me. 30 seconds ad shoot takes in so much efforts. So that was very eye opening for me. I knew modeling is not going to be as easy as it looks. But when you actually go and see it, then you release how much efforts it takes. I have a new found respect for it now.”
Kavita talked about the competition in the industry and said it is very unpredictable. The work a model gets totally depends upon the needs of a client.
“It is a very competitive industry but if you keep trying, eventually you will get something. But it takes a lot of patient and you need to be resilient. You have to be okay with rejections.”
Dealing with rejections, Kavita gave a very optimistic answer by saying even experienced models in the industry still face rejections.
Just be grateful for the work you do and keep trying for better work as well. I think just knowing this, that it is not you and the industry is competitive helps in coping up with it. It is not something personal. Move on and keep trying for the next one. That is the only thing I keep in mind while getting rejection often.
Initially, it was easier because I made my mind that I am getting into a very competitive industry and you are just the beginner right now. So, give it sometime. People who were more experienced than me told me to give sometime. Because it takes time to go out there and audition. Then, you kind of get yourself familiar with how to do better with experience.”
Kavita Mishra expressed that Instagram has been playing a very important role in getting work. One can connect with people easily. Also, it is very useful for the people who are willing to showcase their talents on these platforms and get visibility.
Talking about her future plans, Kavita told that she would love to diversify her career in acting. But due to the pandemic, a lot of her plans have changed.
“I would like to establish more into modeling industry as of now. Also, I would work for my family business which is really important for me right now. I hope, few years down the line I could start my own business. I am doing a online diploma in media, so that is also something I do.”

In the end, when asked about what impact has modeling thrown on her life, Kavita Mishra said that she learned a lot while working with different people which helped her grow as an individual.
“Initially when people use to body shame me, I thought that I am handling it well. But, I think it somewhere it had a negative impact on me. Now after going through all of that I have learned how to handle that and how to not take those comments really seriously.
For example, if someone told me to lose weight in three weeks, I used to do every possible thing even if it was unhealthy I would deliver that. Now I care more about my health rather pleasing people. I am focussed more on keeping myself happy and healthy. When you get into the industry you take everything very seriously. What people say affect me less now.”
