To reach heights, you should chase your dreams and work on yourself. Meet the fashion model and actor, Pratyancha Narale who also dreams to do so. Coming from a small town Jawale, Sangola, Pratyancha is trying to make her name in the city of dreams. She has been observing the industry very closely and has a lot of experience in the field of fashion which has made her fall in love with it. Pratyancha feels that being a model is not just about you but also about everyone around you who makes it possible. Therefore, she dreams of becoming a supermodel who represents and understands all the hard work behind the scene. Let us just dive into knowing some about this charming diva.

Beginning with how Pratyancha came into the industry, growing up she was a shy and introverted person who bounded by what was around her. But found the confidence to showcase her talent through various creative activities. Sharing how developed her interest in modeling, Pratyancha says,

I would mimic everything I saw on television. I would style myself with everything I could find at my disposal, trying to get the exact look I would see of models. While I did all this alone in my own wonderful world, I was yearning for the world to see it.

When I moved to Pune for my higher education and started pursuing an art degree at Fergusson College. I was open to all kinds of transformative experiences as Fergusson is a hub of creative activities and I wanted to be a part of all the amazing things student groups were doing. Be it dramas, street plays, dance groups, or any other activities. I so wanted to be a part of it! But my inhibitions and self-doubt held me back.

Eventually ended up participating in the ramp show after a lot of nervous breakdowns. I did not tell any of my friends. When they saw me walking down the ramp during the college festival, they all got shocked. That shock changed into cheering and started doing what loved more.

Pratyancha’s parents were very supportive of her decision to pursue modeling but only after completing her post-graduation. So, Pratyancha did her MBA in Marketing.

“My dad told me that I should complete my education first and then I can do whatever I like to do”

After that fashion show in college Pratyancha did not look back. She started to explore the modeling industry more closely. From building her portfolio to walking on the ramp she learned as much as she can. Later after few years, Pratyancha participated in Miss Pune Fresh Face 2012. Her win at the pageant made her believe in herself and boosted her confidence. Then the doors for her opened and she worked with some well-known designers like Anju Modi, Aditi Somani, Gabriela Demetriades, Vikram Phadnis, and many more. But the turning point in her career was when she represented India in South Korea during the ‘Face of Asia’ model festival. Sharing her experience, Pratyancha tells,

A lot of people were there to judge you and other competitors. So you had to show something which can show that you are different from others. That time I learned how to start a conversation with a person. After hearing the different stories of other competitors I felt very proud of myself. I have struggled a lot in life and being there was not less than a dream. Representing India was a very proud moment for me. But I think apart from pageants I learned a lot from my work. “

When asked about facing criticism, Pratyacha told that during the initial days, a designer rejected her due to her skin tone. The designer told her that she does not want a dusky skin tone model for her garments. Pratyancha took it positively and moved on

“I was like is Indian mentality always like this or I don’t know. I was very shocked by that as she wanted a fair model and that is why I got out of the show. But I took it as a challenge and decided to take my career forward in my own way. There are a lot of other clients or professionals who like dusky skintone models. So I started doing designer shoots. Because of my skin tone, I have faced a lot of criticism. They used to say she is dusky and she is not well-groomed, that’s how they used to criticize me. Later I worked on myself.”

Apart from being a talented model, Pratyancha has also played a lot of sports. She is the national-level player of the High Jump. Also have played much inter-college competition in Volleyball. Pratyancha has won a few trekking competitions as well.

Pratyancha came to the industry to become an actor. She did a feature film named “Girlfriend” in 2019. A casting professional approached her through Facebook and asked her to give the audition.

“They gave me the situation and I had to react to it. So I did it. The next day I got a call from them saying that I was selected. It was a really good experience. I got an opportunity to work with well-known actors from the Marathi industry. They were good to me and praised me for my work.”

Talking about dealing with rejections, Pratyancha said she was regularly giving auditions for Lakme fashion week for four years. It was in her dream to walk the ramp of Lakme Fashion Week. She feels that consistency is all you require.

“You have to keep giving auditions. If you are getting rejected in one project then you will be selected for some other project. It depends upon the client’s requirements. You do not have to think that you are not worthy of something. Keep trying and don’t lose hope. If you lose hope then you have to go back to your place.”

Pratyancha told that there is a lot of competition in industry and work is less. When asked how she deals with pressure, she told,

“These days people are stressed because of the competition, girls who are 18-17 years old are coming into the industry and doing well. I just mediate, workout. Also, I do functional training at home to reduce stress. I listen to music and talk to family friends, work on myself and try to improve.”

She advises all aspiring models is to never lose hope and keep working on themselves. Consistency is the key to success. Pratyancha in the future would love to work with Deepika Padukone as she adores her persona. Pratyancha during the lockdown rescued a lot of cats and dogs. Earlier in her hometown, she used to provide the necessities to underprivileged children and continues to do so.

The impact of modeling in her life is that she has got a lot of opportunities. As her love for traveling is fulfilled by working in the industry.
