“You know my modeling journey was never that easy. I had a lot of hindrances in my way. As not everyone was okay with it. Society has always gone against it. Convincing your parents is not an easy task. Coming from a political background, you can not do what you exactly want as all the eyes are on you.”
Gayatri adores that the industry accepts people the way they are. Besides that, they recognize your talent and put them out that way.
“They bring the best out of you. And when someone does that you feel blessed. It is not easy to survive in an industry full of uncertainty. Also, there is a lot of competition out there. But when you are there, they accept you for who you are. They embrace your specialty out there.”
However, Gayatri’s family initially was not supportive of her, and it took time for them to come around.
“They saw how I used to get ready and took pictures. I feel good after taking pictures. When I was in grade 9 I used to watch ‘India’s Next Top Model’. I am someone who if I want to do something, I do it with full determination. So, my parents saw the efforts I used to put in. They saw my goals, and how dedicated I was. I am a part of the fashion team in college. Out of 200 I made it to the core team of 7. My parents realized how serious I am about it. “
“The idea of beauty for me is how you carry yourself, and the way you present yourself. I think everyone is beautiful in their own way. I might not look the best. Though I am pretty sure that I have the best personality. That’s something called confidence. The more confident you are, the more beautiful you look”, says Gayathri while talking about beauty.
Dealing with a lot of criticism on social media and the people surrounding her, Gayatri became a strong-headed individual.
“I listen to a lot of things on social media. So many people tell me, Gayatri, you are very dark, skinny. I think dusky skin tone is one of the most beautiful. Have you ever stood under the sun and seen how beautiful it looks? It enhances you as a person and every other feature. I am very skinny, I weigh just 37 kgs. But I love the way I am. If you do not love yourself, you can not expect others to love you. Or even come and make you feel good about yourself. I know If I do not like who I am, I can not expect the world to appreciate me.”
Gayatri shared some fun and creative ideas to style our basic outfits this festive season. She shares,
“So, one can do different things, probably they can wear pants and have a saree wrap around, pleat it from the front, accessorize it with heavy jewelry. Also, add your touch to your outfits. Add crop tops on, put on some gold jewelry, curl your hair, do simple yet cute makeup. Put a foundation, blush, highlighter, and bold lipstick.
Gayatri’s favorite festival has always been Holi, the festival of colors. It is just once in the year when people come and play together. There are just colors and happiness around. Everyone comes together and has fun. She likes to celebrate it with her friends and family.
