Ending Violence – A Step Towards Women Empowerment

Ending Violence – A Step Towards Women Empowerment. In today’s world being a woman means having a sense of identity and fighting the underlying patriarchy. On one hand, we keep the idol of goddesses in our homes and praise them with respect, and on the other hand, we do not even acknowledge their presence. Traditionally, there are so many codes and conducts a woman has to follow. Unlike a male member of the house, in many areas, women still are restricted to four walls.

Is there any safe place for a woman?

As we have seen, there is no specific safe place for a woman. The level of violence against women is increasing day by day. A woman has to suffer everywhere whether they are at home, walking on a road, working in an office, or calmly doing their work. They have a constant fear in them of something happening while walking alone at night. Fear has become somewhat a part of their life.

We have seen that every second woman has experienced violence at least once in their lifetime. Every other day a number of women become a victim of either physical or non-physical violence.

The shocking thing is that the act of violence is mostly performed by a close member of the family. The violence can include rape, marital rape, the act of killing her, forcefully making her do things, abusing her, or domestic violence.

In today’s time when every other person has access to the internet, it becomes easier for people to harass women online. Blackmailing her to do something to please the person on the internet by showing inappropriate pictures of her, abusing her, or even flashing her with inappropriate pictures.

Web abuse has become common these days, where we can find news that pictures of girls have been uploaded on the internet to sell them off. Hence, we cannot say that there is any place safe for women.

How to eradicate violence?

This is very true that not every woman is privileged. But it does mean that you need to suffer in silence. At this high time, we must speak for ourselves. Ending violence against us and our bodies is completely in our hands. No other person will come and help us.

For that, we have to be confident about our personalities. We should not let patriarchy or any other thing rule us. A woman should stand like an individual without any fear of society. Society will tell us how to live, what to wear, how to talk, where to go, and with whom to go. And this is where we need to learn to break the silence.

If something wrong happens to us or any other person does something inappropriate, we must file a complaint against them. We should not let negative thoughts such as we won’t be able to stand society after that hover us. We need to educate ourselves about the rights to our bodies. Never be shy to ask for help if needed.

It is our right to feel safe everywhere. And violence cannot be physical only, it affects our mental health too. Any type of violence can leave unforgettable marks on us. It can even force us to take our own lives. Therefore, instead of becoming a part of it, we should raise our voices against them.

And we should learn to face it and not to avoid it. We cannot live in silence always. And to eradicate violence against us we have to make our thoughts strong. Because our one strong action can save the lives of many other women who cannot raise their voices for themselves. Simply, we are not made to cry in silence, we have to face challenges.
