Bhumika Arora’s story to stardom is more interesting than any others. She has made a mark not only in the Indian fashion industry but also internationally working with brands like Hermes and Chanel. Vogue singled her out as No.3 in its “7 Things We Loved Today’ after her debut at New York Fashion Week.
The 33-year-old model is originally from the city of Karnal, Haryana. Although having studied at a business school, she used to follow fashion-related content on Fashion T.V. She was spotted by a photographer who offered to take her professional photos. She sent these pictures to many global agencies. The model was eventually, signed by Elite Paris and Society Management in New York. Thereafter, she made her international debut for Dries Van Noten in 2014. She is notable for the 2015/16 Fall/Winter season where she walked for Alexander Wang. Since then, she has walked for fashion giants such as Balmain, Chanel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana, and Armani Privé. Bhumika has also appeared in editorials for Vogue (American, British, Paris, India), Elle, Grazia, and Marie Claire Italia.
Moreover, she has also shot for Bottega Veneta, H&M, Fenty X Puma, Stella McCartney, Bobbi Brown, Prabal Gurung, and the list just goes on. Bhumika once told i-D that she misses her family, friends, and food from India. “And also talking in my own language. So I call India a lot, cook Indian food most of the time when I’m away and also go to Indian restaurants”, she said. She is the first Indian model to have such a massive international impact since Lakshmi Menon.
